International Student Orientation Schedule

Welcome to Orientation! International Student Orientation officially begins on Monday, January 4 (the first day of classes) and activities continue throughout the first week.

Monday, January 4
Orientation: Offical Welcome to the University
3:30-5:30pm, Husky Union Building (HUB) Room 310

Welcome Reception, 5:30-6:30pm
Join current UW students, FIUTS staff, and University staff for a reception to welcome you and other incoming international students and scholars to the UW. Following the reception, you are invited to join current student volunteers for dinner in the University District. Family members and friends welcome to attend.

Wednesday, January 6
First Wednesday Lunch, 11:30am-1:30pm
A popular FIUTS tradition, Wednesday Lunch is a free lunch held each week. It is a great place to see friends and meet new ones! All UW students, staff, and Seattle community members are welcome to attend.

Friday, January 8
All Ages Happy Hour with current students, 4-6pm

Join students and FIUTS staff for food and drink specials at a local restaurant!

Saturday, January 9
Light Rail Scavenger Hunt, Pike Place Market Dinner & Space Needle, 12-7pm
Explore Seattle's various neighborhoods by taking the new Light Rail to various stops in small teams. Clues will lead you to landmarks, shops and more! Then we'll meet at famous Pike Place Market for dinner and sightseeing in America's oldest public market. Finally, head to the Space Needle for beautiful night views of the city. Bring U-pass, comfortable shoes, $16 for the space needle entrance, plus spending money for food.

Sunday, January 10
Day Trip to Bainbridge Island with current students, 11am-5pm
Take the ferry to nearby Bainbridge Island to explore shops, restaurants, the beach and museums at this picturesque waterfront town! Bring U-pass, warm clothes, $7 for the ferry, and money for lunch.
